For Nocts

[Mid-afternoon. Much later than Ignis usually sleeps. His brain hooks into the here-and-now, and groans. Well, his headache is gone, as is his hangover, but he just missed an entire morning.

Thank god it's his 'day off.' Of course, being Noctis' advisor means no real days off after all.

Case in point.

Noctis Lucis Caelum, upcoming King of Lucis CXIV, Chosen of the Crystal and Light....is asleep next to him and drooling slightly on the pillow. Heh.

Quietly, gently, Ignis slides out of bed and slips into his en suite bathroom, turning on the shower to warm it up while he brushes his teeth. Noctis will likely sleep right through, anyway. You could set a thunder bomb off under his bed and he wouldn't twitch.]

[Noctis has been throwing tantrums in the empty apartment, at the walls, for years now. He got tired of it, to be honest. He'd still complain and curse at the destiny from time to time, but not in the same amounts as before.

He was about to agree with the "no" (even though it tore right through him like a dagger) but the last part had his eyes widen.]

You... [Titan's asscrack, he's on verge of crying now. Happy tears. He rubs at his eye, taking a shaky breath.] ...you always end up risking so much for me.

That's because you're worth it.

[Part of him is still very, very glad the table is between them. Part of him is tempted to shove it out of the way and completely finish breaking, break every more and law he can so he can finally give in and touch. Because the look on Noctis' face right now just triggers every single one of his protective feelings.]

But we cannot lie to ourselves. And we'll have to observe some very strict boundaries. Otherwise...

[He trails off. They both know what they're risking. No need to rehash it again.]

[Is he? With the amount of certainty Ignis says it, Noct can't help but believe him. After all, Ignis was never wrong.]

Mm. Everything's restricted to the apartments and deadly silence.

[By everything he means, physical contact. Astrals, he wants to just crawl into Ignis' lap and just forget about everything for a moment.]

Well. Perhaps not entirely silent.

[Astrals, he just went there. It's official, all this time of quiet longing has completely stripped him of all rationality. He clears his throat and rises from his seat, hoping that the trembling in his legs isn't noticeable.]

Perhaps we're getting ahead of ourselves. We don't even know if we're...compatible. Shall we test it?

[And now his neck is warm, just from that small implication. He's been thinking too much about being not so silent with Ignis that it doesn't need explaining at all.

He slips off the chair all too eagerly, nudging the furniture out of the way.]

I'm all for testing it. [He grins up at him, his fingers hooking into the shirt Ignis is wearing.]

[Moment of truth. Ignis' pupils are blown wide, with only a small ring of green around them. A totally involuntary physical response that only Noctis can bring out of him. He looks down at those fingers hooked into his shirt, and he feels like his insides are struggling to get outside.]

C-Certainly. I...

[He just keeps staring. Frozen like a sabertusk in headlights. Ignis Scientia has lost all his courage. Help?]

[Noctis can distinctly remember almost kissing Ignis when he was drunk. Only he chickened out then because something about his advisor's voice screamed 'bad idea'. But now...

...now there's nothing in the way. No nagging voices, no alcohol. The last thing that runs through Noct's head before he presses their lips together is that he's never seen such brilliant green in his life.]

[And that's the moment he's irrevocably lost.

It starts out incredibly tentative, weighed down by all their years together, but then that weight shifts just enough, and he's kissing back like the world is about to end. No tomorrow. Noct tastes like the meal they shared, and something utterly unique and delicious underneath.

He loses all sense of time and propriety, as he grabs his own sweater on Noctis' frame and pulls him in closer, a needy little noise leaving his throat. Yup. Gone.]

[What part of this is 'not compatible'?! Noctis never felt something fit him so perfectly in his life before this.

The moment Ignis pulls him closer to him, his hand moves to Ignis' neck, kissing him with all the love and frustration that has been built up within him all this time. The hands on him easily draw out a small moan and he knows that soon, just a kiss won't be able to satisfy him.

But, right now, he hopes his kiss will speak more than his words because Noctis and words don't mix too well.]

[Eventually, the need for air makes him pull back. Not all the way, just enough to catch his breath. His forehead is resting against Noct's, and his nose, and his glasses are getting knocked askew and he really doesn't care.]

Well. I suppose that's one question answered. Oh, Noct...

[His cheeks are impossibly warm from the kiss but does that even matter now? Ignis is standing here, hands wrapped around him. The way he breathes out his name just sends a violent shiver down his back. He better be not dreaming this.

His hand moves from Ignis' neck to trace his cheek,] Iggy...if I'm dreaming, please don't wake me up.

You do sleep enough for this to be a dream.

[And that's just straight up fond teasing. His fingers are moving, exploring, but carefully avoiding the old scar on Noct's back. Even through the sweater, he knows where not to go. And gods, he wants that sweater out of the way so he can touch bare skin. The most dangerous thought yet.]

But if you're dreaming, I must be, too. In which case, the same request applies.

[He'd roll his eyes at the teasing if he wasn't so happy right now. The fingers are making his hair stand up on edge and honestly, even if Ignis did graze his scar, Noct is sure he wouldn't mind it.

It's Ignis. His Ignis. The person that knows him better than anyone.]

I will do my best to fulfill that request then, [Noct says with a happy grin.]

[And that grin, right there, is his Noctis. The sweet, sensitive boy who loves animals and fishing video games and when he smiles, the sun comes up. There's a moment where Ignis just basks in that grin, lets his heart go wild. And then he takes another breath.]

So. Now what?

[It's up to Noct. It always has been.]</small<

[Noct hums, pulling his head away a bit and fixing those glasses. There. Now he can see those green eyes properly.]

The movie idea wasn't bad at all you know. The action movie, not the romance one. [Pause.] Ice cream as well. From that place that lets you put tons of toppings.

[Sounds like a date. But it's not. But it is to them. But it's not to the others. You get the idea.]

And can you promise me you'll behave yourself? One hundred percent?

[Because out in public they ran the risk of being photographed. And cameras were remarkably good at capturing minutia of expression. For example, a lusty look, or a smoldering glance, or dozens of other actionable expressions.

Ignis finally reaches up, and brushes the backs of his knuckles across Noct's jawline, studying his face like he's water in a desert.]

Pretend you're bored with me? Like I'm nothing more than your nagging advisor whom you've ditched in the past for arcade excursions? Hmm?

Don't I always behave myself?

[Hey, if the cameras didn't catch Noct with lustful gazes up until now (because sometimes, he didn't hide at all), they won't now. Also, he might grab a cap or something to keep his face under a shade so he's not recognized as fast.

He leans into the touch, closing his eyes briefly, sighing.]

You mean to complain about the movie, the popcorn not having enough butter, nap half way through the said movie and put so many ice cream toppings you end up scolding me?

Hm. Not always.

[Ignis' thumb is now tracing back and forth across the soft line of Noctis' lower lip, fingers cupping his jaw. Wondering if he should kiss him again. Wondering if he'll be allowed to do more than just kiss. But this has been so long in coming, he's skittish now. They really could ruin both their lives entirely if they jumped in too fast.]

I still don't understand the appeal of that many toppings. The flavors of the ice cream are lost entirely.

What? I object.

[He's not objecting at all if that smile is anything to go by. The smile turns into a grin again when he feels the thumb near his lips and he can't help himself but press a short kiss to it. It's there, he can't resist it.]

But I can never decide. Whenever I put one, I always see a better topping.

[They should probably keep it slow, but if it becomes too slow, Ignis might get a visit in the middle of the night. Again. And it won't be to cure his hangover.]

You lack discipline, highness.

[Oh, and that tone is decidedly sensual, suddenly opening up an entirely new avenue to explore. Oh, gods, sometimes he wishes he weren't a strategist, seeing so many different options. Because it is decidedly too soon, after only one kiss, to even be contemplating that level of play. He's blushing again, definitely.]

Oh, hell. That was...far too suggestive, I'm sorry.

Perhaps you should discipline me more.

[And Noct just follows the suit, falling into the flow with Ignis, as if it is completely natural. His own cheeks are flushed red just from thinking about what it implies. There's a small smirk as he leans up to press a small kiss on Ignis' jaw.]

You hear me complaining?

Actually, yes. Frequently. As in not twenty minutes ago, when I distinctly heard the word 'beans!' come out of your mouth in a very piercing whine.

[More teasing. This one, he takes the edge off by leaning back in and returning that little kiss, just at the corner of Noct's mouth.]

I do enjoy your mouth, however. I shouldn't complain.

[That gets Noct to roll his eyes. He ate the peas! True, one escaped in his embarrassed and uncomfortable fury but he ate them. Don't bring beans into flirty times, Specs.

Still, the kiss gets him distracted again and he chuckles-]

Well~ now there's nothing to stop you from shutting me up, you know.

[Smirk.]

Hmm. Interesting. I serve you vegetables, you whine, I kiss you to make you compliant. If I'd known that would work, I'd have done it years ago.

[And now he really can't resist. He pulls Noct in for another kiss, this one deeper and slower and excruciatingly sensual. The kind of kiss that usually leads to a soft, horizontal surface if allowed to go on.]

[Noct wanted to say that he definitively should've done it but the kiss is way better. He doesn't even bother to hold back a groan at how good it feels and he just presses up against Ignis even more. Seriously, he needs to stop holding back with him- Noctis wants all these kisses and way, way more than what he's probably allowed. But he's greedy like that- when it comes to Ignis.]
